Judging

Judging is provided by a juror with outstanding photographic credentials. In order to provide photographers with a variety of judging experiences, a different juror is chosen each year from throughout the state and nation.

Pick up and Liability

The WTPSL will take all reasonable precautions to protect all works of art presented at the show. However, the artist must assume all risks for any damage or loss. We strongly urge you to pick up your work following the end of the show.

About WTPSL

In 1994 a small group of photographers on the South Plains organized to sponsor this show and to enjoy photography as a creative medium. The West Texas Photographic Society of Lubbock chose to sponsor the only open show at the time in Lubbock, encouraging all area photographers to share their work with the community.

The Show

The show is held in April with entries accepted on the first Monday of the month. Judging occurs during the first week of the month. An awards ceremony is held at the end of the week in conjunction with the First Friday Art Trail. Photographs remain hung at the Garden and Arts Center during the entire month.

Entries

There is a $10 fee per entry for 1 or 2 entries or $25 for 3 entries.

• Entries limited to a maximum of 3 entries per person.

• Entries must be between 8X10 and 21X25 inches total dimension

• Photographs must be framed and ready to hang.

• Wire hangers must be used. No sawtooth hangers should be used.

Although the show is juried and awards are made, the idea of competition should be secondary to the opportunity to exhibit. Photographers should choose their best three images and present them in such a way as to enhance the image. All work submitted must be the original work of the photographer and be in good taste. All shows exhibited in City of Lubbock property are subject to the policies and rules of the City of Lubbock.
